2011 Ron Morgenthaler Memorial Shelton Valley Enduro

For 2011 we have some exiting changes.  First, we have renamed the enduro to honor our great friend, Ron Morgenthaler.  Second, we have a new location!  Make sure you join us at 
Mary M. Knight School - 3 miles South of Matlock, on Matlock-Brady Road - not the old place.

The 2011 Shelton Valley Enduro is happening on April 30th and May 1st 2011 at the Mary M. Knight School - 3 miles South of Matlock, on Matlock-Brady Road. (See map below).  This NMA points event begins with a enduro school and beginners enduro on April 30th and is followed up by the full enduro on May 1st.

The event site opens at 5:00pm on Friday, April 29th.  Do not show up early - school will be in session and you will be turned away.

Shelton Valley Enduro School & Beginner's Enduro

On April 30th The Puget Sound Enduro Riders Present a enduro school starting at 8:30am.  This excellent instructional opportunity consist of an informal session.  You will get with the expert instructors who will discuss the rules, course layout, timekeeping basics, setting your clock, riding "possibles", scoring, strategy, and much more!  This is a great opportunity to get your feet wet with an fantastic enduro event in some of the best terrain in Washington State.  After the school, the riders will get their bikes checked and the first rider out will be at Noon.  The riding terrain is not for beginning riders - this a medium difficulty terrain on an approximate 35 mile course.  It consist of slow speed averages and there will be sweep riders assisting riders experiencing difficulties.


This is a great event if you are interested in enduro's and want to try your hand a running an enduro.  This can be a great family event, but this is not for beginning riders:
The trails are medium difficulty.  Come out and experience some of the best trails in the Pacific Northwest - which are only accessible during these sanctioned event days!  Awards for all riders finishing!  Competition license holders are not eligible for awards.


Sign-up and Event Timings
  • 8:30am - 9:30am - Sign-up
  • 9:30am - 11:00am - Enduro School & Riders Meeting
    • Expert instructors will discuss the finer points of rules, course layout, timekeeping basics, setting your clock, riding "possibles", scoring, strategy, and more.
  • 11:00am - 11:30am - Sound Test
  • Noon - 3:00pm - Beginners' Enduro
    • First rider out at 12:01pm.
  • 4:00pm - Awards

THERE WILL BE NO GAS AVAILABLE ON THE BEGINNERS COURSE.  Be sure you can ride ~35 miles on a single tank of fuel.


Shelton Valley Enduro

This NMA Points Event begins with sign-ups at 7:00am on May 1st, 2011.  There will be a discount of $5 for all pre-entries received by April 24th, 2011 - so get your entry in early!  Print the registration sign-up from the flyer here.  In the PSER Shelton Valley Enduro tradition, there will be Jart Charts, Finisher Pins, and over 30% awards - keeping up the great tradition of excellent hosted enduro's in Washington State.  Be sure to ride these excellent trails which are only available during this sanctioned event!



Courses

This years enduro will feature 2 courses, a short course and a long course; both courses will have gas available.

Short Course

The short course this year is ~50+ miles.  There will be gas available.  Bring your can.

Long Course

The long course this year is ~75+ miles.  There will be gas available on the course.  Bring one can.

4-H Fundraiser – Auction!
The 4-H Shooting Sports Club of Matlock will be holding an auction and fundraiser on Saturday April 30th at 6:30 PM, just up the road at the Matlock Grange.  Everyone attending our events is invited to come and participate in this fun annual event.  Proceeds go to support a safe and responsible shooting sports program for area youth.  There will be raffles, a live auction, door prizes and other activities.  Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.  Please make plans to attend this fundraiser to help support the community that has been so kind in hosting our enduros this year.  More information is available at signup.



Camping

There is self-contained dry RV camping for free - so join us for the entire weekend and have a great time with the entire family!  There will be no campfire are allowed on school property, sorry.  Additionally, there is no Sunday night camping.

Since we are staging this event on public school property, it is a drug, alcohol and smoke free facility.  Please exercise appropriate discretion.
